TRIBAL MINISTRY
I am very glad to tell about the recent meeting which held in Tamil nadu. God was very good to us to conduct this meeting. This meeting was conducted among the tribal people, I had already mentioned in the report.
The meeting was arranged at Basmar Penta and tribal people gathered together from Aravetla, Basmar Pentta, Kothur and surrounding areas. Meeting started at 10.30 A.M closed at 3.30 P.M. more than 130 people gathered together for this meeting. Ten other local pastors from other denomination attended, it was a great blessing to the people those who attended. This meeting was started with a word of prayer, singing songs, worship, and thereafter welcoming guest and introducing each others.
Pastor. Sokku Jebadurai gave an introductory sermon, and then I gave the final message with my testimony. My topic was, “God is no respecter of persons”
Many people were being touched by the message of God. Ministers and people got renewed in their spirit with the message and were encouraged in their life to do the ministry; and it was a challenge to their lives.
Pastor Ravi Lazarus
Pastor Ravi Lazarus is working among these tribal people since 2 years. He had been despised and rejected by other pastors those who are living in Town as he is working among the tribal. He did not have any support or any kind of encouragements from others. He planned to leave the ministry, that time our minister Pastor Sokku Jebadurai heard about this and encouraged him and supported him to establish this ministry.
He has a wife and three children. Two boys and one girl, elder boy is studying in a Bible school and another boy and girl is studying in a school in the town. He bought a small piece of land (20 feet length and 8 feet width). He made a small hut which looked similar a tribal hut. He and his family is living among the tribal people and is doing the ministry, he does not have a two wheeler or a bicycle. Some times he does not have proper food to eat.
Tribal Area
The people over here are neither civilized nor educated; they do not mingle with other people. Their culture and traditions are entirely different from others. If they mingled with other community people or if they accepted Christianity their own people, relatives and society will not allow these people to continue to live with them, they will expel these people from their society. So, most of them fear to come to the Christianity. Most of them are very cruel minded people. They live in huts made by coconut leaves. Their main job is cultivation and hunting. They eat rat snake and other creatures. If we start a small school and a medical clinic it would be better for their life. There are no schools or hospitals in this area. The tribal area is surrounded by dense forest, and the road is also not comfortable to travel in these places. During the Night time and some day time wild animals “Bears, Monkeys and wild elephants tigers” used to destroy their cultivation.
Mr. Jairam and his Family members:
He is a high class person and a leader in this area. He is an orthodox Hindu, but he opened his heart and helped us very much in conducting this meeting. The main reason for his help was that, for many days there was no rain in this area and their Wells went dry and their crops began to wither. But we encouraged them and told them that God would do a miracle for them, after 2-3 days God sent rain and this incident increased his belief in Jesus. He willingly gave his coconut field to conduct our open air meeting and gave electricity freely to use the PA system. He promised us that he will provide his old building for the worship service freely until we get our own place, but we have to make roof for this building and repair it, to conduct the worship service. Now he is interested to attend the meeting and propagating the gospel to these areas with us.
Bible says, “I will pour out my spirit up on all flesh”, it shows the fulfillments of prophesies.
So please do not forget to pray for us and stand with us to make His ministry in success.
God bless you.
Yours truly,
Rev. Johney Kutty Joshua,
Bangalore- India.
